The first funding call for Data Science Industrial Doctorate programmes closed successfully at the beginning of this year and we are now excited to announce the funding recipients.
After reviewing some very strong proposals, The Data Lab has recently approved to fund for up to 50% Four Industrial Doctorate Projects supervised by three of Scotland’s leading universities: Heriot-Watt University, Robert Gordon University and the University of Stirling.
These new industrial doctorate projects add on to the projects already in offer by the University of St Andrews through The Data Lab funded EngD programme; bringing the total number of Data Lab co-funded projects up to six so far this year; and we are looking to grow.
We know that Scotland needs highly–educated data experts, in research and business, that are capable of forging new ideas at the edge of what is currently achievable. This is why we are offering further funding for new Industrial Doctorate programmes.
If you are a Scottish-based organisation or an academic institution and you are interested in developing a data-driven Industrial Doctorate project you can read about our current call for funding and submit an application for funding here.
For an Industrial Doctorate project to be eligible for The Data Lab funding it must be hosted at a Scottish University and be sponsored by an Industry Sponsor that has an operational base in Scotland. The application deadline is the 16thJuly 2017.
Opportunities for students:
If you are a prospective doctoral (PhD / EngD) student and you are interested in applying for one of the abovementioned programmes, see the current vacancies in our industrial doctorates page or contact skills@thedatalab.com.
