A call for innovative data science solutions to improve cancer care in Scotland was launched at DataFest last month. The Cancer Innovation Challenge aims to inspire novel data and tech proposals to help Scotland become a world leading health system for people with cancer.

On Wednesday 16th March, The Data Lab, MBN Solutions and WeAreTheFuture hosted the first edition of Data Talent Scotland, an event for anyone and everyone studying, working or just plain interested in Data Science in Scotland.
Data Lab launch the first professional development boot camp in collaboration with Data Incubator, a leading US data science training organisation. Scotland’s first ever Data ‘Boot Camp’ will be delivered in September to upskill employees with raw analytical grounding into bonafide data scientists.
Hosted by The Data Lab, MBN Solutions and WeAreTheFuture, DTS was created to showcase Scotland’s data science potential. The event brought together over 450 data science enthusiasts, with more than half of attendees being MSc students in Data Science courses from around Scotland.
At the beginning of March, The Data Lab in collaboration with Scottish Development International (SDI) hosted a Scottish delegation to Singapore to attend the Big Data & Analytics Innovation Summit, organised by Innovation Enterprise.
